We recently had the honor of being a part of a fundraiser for a truly amazing lady. Linda is someone that we have known, loved, and worked with for years. And she has lived in this community her entire life. She has worked in so many different fields of nursing: med-surg, emergency, dialysis, cardiology, OB, teaching, and administration, just to name a few. Her love for others has always been apparent, and she was always willing to help others learn procedures that they were not comfortable. From working the night shift (yep, those days when the census was low and everyone raced to answer the light) to calling her up to ask about accessing a port or changing a dressing, Linda always was your "go to girl."
The last 6 years, Linda has been in the fight of her life, against the nasty "C." She has had surgeries, injections, infusions, and multiple hospitalizations. But her spirit for life has not changed. And after all that she has done for others, it was time to give back to her. Medicines are expensive, and the insurance companies don't always pay for what is needed to try to live your life as comfortably as possible. And there is just something wrong in all of this. But it is what it is. And we can only do the best we can to help.
So this fundraiser was started. And the response that was received was almost overwhelming! So many people came out to help, offered to donate money and time, baked goods, and so many people bought those baked goods. We had it all! And than some. We are so grateful to have been able to be a part of this very worthy cause. And to all who participated in any way, a huge "Thank You." Seeing the community come together is what it is really all about. Linda has been so supportive of us and our mission, that it was very humbling to be able to be a part of this for her.
So please enjoy looking through the photos from that day. And if you missed this, and want to be a part of this benefit, you can still donate funds. Just contact us and we will get back with you, and get the money where it needs to go.
