Shelbyville Old Settlers

Many of the towns in Missouri have roots back into the 1800's. Shelbyville is one such town. And each year, they celebrate the creation of their town. Games and food and carnival rides. And food, did I mention the food? For many, it is a coming home again, for some it is remembering a time when things moved slower, and for some it is a memory of what is no longer here today.

One thing that happens is a vendors fair, where the donations go to help the Teen Center of Shelbyville. This organization helps provide back to school supplies, a place to hang out after school, a place to exchange books with other people, and sometimes a place to help with those that might not have enough food to feed their family.

An organization that helps others!! We could not have been more proud to be able to assist this organization, while trying to raise some funds to help our own.

The day was beautiful, rain threatened but moved away. The crowds were not bad, some wearing masks and some not. The parade was so much fun, as it always is in these small towns.  Old tractors, old cars, the marching band, candy! What a better way to spend the day. We didn't have many sales, but we did have a lot of fun! We hope that next year will be better for us all.
