Spaghetti Dinner

We recently hosted a spaghetti at Crossroads Christian Church in Macon, as a fundraiser for our mission trip. God does move in different ways, and this is definitely an example.
Several of us work with Susan, and during a conversation, we talked about doing this dinner. Susan works with the youth in her church, and they were interested in helping us, working as servers, clean up persons, and greeters. We were impressed that teenage youth would want to do this, and gladly accepted their offer. In continuing the conversation over several days, Susan than told us that the women's group of her church had been interested in doing a service project with the youth, and this amazing team was formed. Pictured above are the LDS Women's Relief from the Moberly and Macon Churches, along with the LDS Youth groups from Moberly and Macon.  They provided a large portion of the supplies, the hands to cook and clean, and the smiles that made the night a huge success. Without their assistance, we would never have been able to host this dinner, and we will always remember their kindness of this night.

We wish to thank everyone who came out this night. You made this an evening we won't forget, and helped us to help others. We had some great conversations with those regarding our trip, and heard many express a further interest in our team and its goals. We look forward to talking more to all about what we see as our calling to help others.

Our dessert tables. This represents only a small portion of the amazing
desserts that were served this night. Thanks to all who made, and shared
them with us.

Looking into the kitchen, as the activity continues. Someone at every
station. Pasta, sauce, vegetable, bread. And the drinks being prepared, coffee,
tea, and lemonade.
Once it started, the work continued. Each with a mission, and each one
carried out oh so well. And the wee one even dropped in for a visit.
A future team member, perhaps?

Coffee, tea, lemonade, and hot chocolate. What more could you ask for?
Some amazing new friends to spend the time with.
Two of the ladies in the kitchen, cooking the meat and preparing the sauce
that would be used this night. So much activity in the kitchen, all at the same
time. And it went so well! You would not have known that this was a first
time event for so many  of us. Things work smoother when so much
love is involved.
You can always expect the unexpected. Those that stopped in this night not
only had the opportunity to have a great meal, some fantastic dessert, and to
help our cause, but also had the pleasure of hearing this young man, who playedthe piano during the meal. It was incredible! And we appreciate it so much.

Several people enjoy the meal, while others watch the slideshow being shown
on the television screen. The photos represented the previous year's trip.

2 Generations of helpers this night. Dianna and her son Hayden. He is
always so ready to help with the cause.
More guests who enjoyed the afternoon, filled with great food and an even
greater understanding of the purpose of the meal.

We were honored to have a fabulous cherry cheesecake donated to us
by Kyleigh Campbell from New Cambria.
You can visit her Facebook page here, and contact her for
your next dessert need. You won't be sorry!
