Hog Raffle
We work very hard at raising money to do the things which we feel so compelled to do. Trips, helping in the community, hosting benefits to raise money for people in need. We know that there are a lot of different organizations which are trying to do the same as we are, and that there is only so much money available in the community for donation. So we are always looking for different ways of raising money than many of the other groups. We do not wish to distract from what they are attempting to accomplish in any way, but we don't want to just blend into the wall either, so to speak. So we strive to do some events which are unique. Auctioning afghans, hosting spaghetti dinners, and making handcrafted items to sell are just a few of the ways we try to give people something for their donation, as we all realize just how hard it is to make money these days.
So we were very surprised, and pleased, to receive a donation of a hog. This hog was given as a pig to a couple, who had been feeding it for several months. They decided to donate this hog to our team, which enabled us to sell raffle tickets, with the winner receiving the hog. And while we were selling tickets, this couple continued to feed the hog so that he would gain enough weight and be ready to go to the locker, when the time came.
We are pleased to announce that the winner of this raffle was Aimee Still. We wish to congratulate her on the win, and to thank everyone who purchased tickets for this drawing. The money raised from this event will go to help fund one of our local winter projects. And a huge thanks to the couple who fed and donated the hog to our team. Your support of our efforts is so greatly appreciated!
