Heading out on Friday morning, for our first day of clinic, was like coming home again. This is the location where we hosted the medical clinic last year. Driving to the area, we could see where there had been improvement. But we could also see where much more was needed.
Knowing that many would be waiting, we arrived and started to unload the truck. Once the clinic was set up, and the morning prayer was said, we all started to do what we do best. And many arrived during the two days, over 400 persons who had various problems, many of which we were able to help.
With medicine or education, a warm smile or tender touch, and the reassurance that they mattered, the team did what they could for this wonderful part of this country. Prayers for all who came to be seen, for the translators who worked so hard during the days, and for the members of this team. Your dedication to caring about others is truly an inspiration for all to see and feel.
The triage table, set and ready. The hand sanitizer was used a lot!

Pierre and Mickey watches as Dr. Lajette checks out the hand-held EKG device that International Medical Aid had acquired. The
device came in handy, being used several times. Referrals were made to a cardiology clinic arriving in a few days.

A new measuring device was donated by International Medical Aid,
to help measure beyond the ability of the one currently being used.

Meet Ode. We saw this young man on Friday and Saturday, and
on Sunday transported him for more definitive care. He unfortunately died on Monday.
|
Our pharmacy table on day 1. Some of the medicines were donated to the clinic, some were brought in by Hands4Hope team members, and the remainder was purchased by the team from a pharmacy in Haiti.

Lilias takes the temperature of a young girl, while she is being
held by Gary, one of the translators. Without the translators,
this task would have been impossible. |
Bridget and Roger, from International Medical Aid, work with
the translators about the new patient survey system that they
were putting into place during clinics.
|
The providers table, set up to accommodate the provider,
the patient, and in our case, our team provider and translator.

Tiffany triages a patient, with the help of her translator.

Yasmine and Mickey discuss some testing, while Pierre
waits to see what needs to be done next.
