Pancake Breakfast And Soup Lunch

Opening day of deer season seemed like a good time to host a pancake breakfast and a soup lunch. So we gathered our family and friends. They made soup, baked desserts, mixed pimento cheese spread, and we bought the plates, silverware, and napkins. We made the coffee, the tea, and had the orange juice and milk all ready to go. We put signs up all over town, and posted it on Facebook for all to see. But even the best laid plans don't always work out. Very few people showed up to eat, and we took a lot of soup and sandwiches home with us. But it didn't dampen our spirits for our trip. We had some good friends join us, arriving at the early morning hour of before the sun was up. And we had the pleasure of enjoying their company, laughing and talking about the upcoming trip.

The biscuits are warming, the pancakes made,
the gravy hot, and the syrup ready!
And did they ever taste great!

Jan came down from Kirksville to help, and brought donuts.
She will be a part of our team which
heads to Haiti this May.

Dianna makes calls and gets started on delivering
breakfast to several locations. We were able to sell several meals
this way, and will remember it for the next time.

Tina drove down in the wee early morning hours to help. Armed with her
coffee, she set to work pouring out the pancake batter.
Man, can this girl cook. Next year, she hopes to join us on
our medical trip to Haiti.

The drinks table, complete with regular and decaf coffee,
hot water for tea, orange juice, and milk.

Even little man was willing to get in and help to support a
worthy cause. Never turn down help!

Marie, who has helped at several events, waits for people to arrive.

Tiffany, who is part of the team headed to Haiti in May.

Our table, set up inside the door. We had several items for sale, and our raffle buckets ready for people to purchase tickets for these drawings.

Ida, who came out to help, brought her family in to eat, and
than took some left-overs home to sell.

This poster represents the reason we do these events. The need is so very great, all over the world. Children are literally starving in this country, as well as in other foreign countries. Many people have little or no access to healthcare. In Haiti, people will wait for hours to be seen in a clinic. And they are so very grateful for the time that is spent with them. Costs of these trips are high. The time away from family and friends can be long. The preparations to go take months. But the rewards are life-changing.

We continue to do fundraisers because of the need. Our Heavenly Father has directed us to help, and this we shall try to do. And for us, we have heard His whispers, have felt his Touch, and have decided to do what we feel He is directing us to do.

So to all the people who showed up to eat, those that came to help, those that donated supplies, and those that bought carry-out meals, we want to thank you from the bottom of our heart. We could not do these trips without your support.

There is still time to help. To donate, contact us on our Facebook page, or send us an email. We will get back in touch with you. And blessings to you and to your family always.
