Us and Our Team

Of all the things that makes a medical clinic a success, the one thing that makes return clinics possible is the friendship that is developed between team members. A team that can't gel is a team that pulls apart. A team where someone has to dominate is a team that will falter. A good team is comprised of members that excel at something and others that step back and let that person lead at the right time, and than know when to step back and let someone else lead. A team is only as strong as the weakest member. And this team had NO weak members. From setting up the trip to departing for home, each member of this team showed leadership and teamwork beyond what most will ever know. From encouraging to consoling, sharing laughs and tears, eating sparse to grabbing a wifi signal, this team came together to form a single unit with a single goal....to help others. We are so very proud of this team and the accomplishments achieved. And know that, because of this success, this year will be the basis for the medical mission trip in 2015.

The trip was hard, but there were also good times. Good friends, a chance to eat a real meal one day, to fellowship with each other, and to introduce a special young lady to our team. These reflections will remain with us for a long time. So please, take a look at some of our "fun" times during our trip. And we look forward to heading back for an even better trip next year.

We arrived at Port Au Prince and took "the truck" to our home for
the week. Lilias and Tiffany sit next to Bridget during the ride.

On Sunday, we had the opportunity to go eat at a restaurant, where
we enjoyed some time away from the clinic, and a time to just relax
and recharge for the next two clinic days. Here Roger and Homayon
relax after a very busy day of teaching CPR class.

Lilias and her translator for the last two years, Ronald.
They have developed a friendship that both hope will
last throughmany more trips.

Tiffany and her translator Gary. Translators not only make
your job easier, they also become your friends in this
country where survival is the main goal.

Tiffany relaxes after a day at clinic. International Medical Aid
had arranged a wifi hotspot, so some communication
was possible with family back home.

Lilias and Liz relax, talking about whatever young ladies discuss amongst themselves. But probably not those chips, huh Lilias? This friendship developed last year, and continues to this day.
Bridget and Roger were new additions to this trip, and they made
excellent team members. We look forward to meeting up with
them again in the future.

Naika, shown here with Tiffany and Sharon, is the girl from the
first trip to Haiti. She has become very special to the team, and
we were able to spend a lot of time with her while we were there.

Due to a mechanical issue, the flight out of Port Au Prince was delayed,
and so our connecting flight was missed. Which meant a long lay-over
in Miami. And after temperatures in the 90's, the airport was just
too cold! And yes, Tiffany, that is one more photo taken!
Lilias chats with her family while we await our delayed flight.
And this girl was already making a list of things to do differently
next year. What a amazing group to have on our team! Your
dedication is what makes these trips so much fun, and you
have touched many lives in the process.
