October Bake Sale
Everyone likes to eat home-baked goods. And we like to bake them. So what better way than to combine both for our fundraiser. We were able to get our family and friends convinced to bake away. And what a response! Cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pies and cakes, breads and apple butter! Pretzels and more! We were astonished to see the outpouring from those which are supporting our cause. From our experience of last year, we had hoped to sell some of the goods that had been donated. The day started off so very cold for this time of the year. Coats and gloves were a necessity, as well as blankets which were well used. We huddled in the corner, using the building as a wind break. We prayed the rain clouds would pass and not douse us with cold rain drops. As this was our first fundraiser of the year, we so needed this to go off and do well.
We could never have anticipated how well this would have gone. People kept stopping by to buy goods, and to bring us more things to sell. People would buy a little and give a big donation. And we saw the goods on the tables decrease. But the day went even better. Dianna had a great idea to make the bake sale a mobile one as well! So we loaded baked goods in the back of the vehicle and away we went. To various locations around town where people bought goods and gave donations, which was incredible. In the end, we had 3 boxes, like the ones sitting on the seat of the picnic table, left. 3 people took baked goods home, and the total profit from the sale increased. Thanks to everyone who donated items for the sale, to those that donated funds, and to those that bought items. Without all of you, we would not be able to accomplish our goals.
And to C&R in Macon, that allowed us to set up outside their store, we appreciate everything you do to help us on our mission trip plans. Please visit C&R and thank them for being supportive of efforts in the community. You can visit their website here: C&R Market
Amanda and Lilias braved the cold temperatures to sit at the bake sale. Yes, some coffee and hot chocolate was used to help stay warm.

We sat up our raffle cans and our poster, to let people know what we were raising money for. We did have people ask, and were pleased to be able to explain to them our feelings about Haiti and helping others. |
Pretzels, dipped vanilla and chocolate almond bark, always sell well. And this was a mound of dipped pretzels. Here are chocolate ones. Had someone in mind when we did these, and we were not disappointed!

Another view of some of the cupcakes we had for sale. The public really liked the cupcakes, and they went fast. |
Amanda and Lilias continue to try to stay warm, as did the munchkins in the chair and in the corner. But everyone stayed in there and the bake sale was a huge success.

Not to be left out, here are the vanilla almond bark pretzels. These went very well and the few that were left over sold quickly when taken to work. |
