Flywheel Breakfast
Macon, Missouri
Our Saturday morning crew: Marlana, Toni, Jessica, Marie, Tiffany, Allie, Kris

This past July, our team had the opportunity to host breakfast during the Macon Flywheel. This seemed like a way to introduce our team to the community, as well as earn some money for our upcoming projects.  We gathered a list of supplies, gathered those willing to help cook and serve breakfast, and arrived at the building each morning at 5AM. We started the grills, boiled the water, got the coffee started, and sat out our brochures for people to pick up. We were ready.

Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate as we would have liked. Rain kept people from visiting the Flywheel, and overall numbers of tractors were down significantly from past years. Saturday night saw a big storm come through, and many people left early. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. But we try to always look at the positives, and remember there is a reason for everything.

When we were concerned that there would not be enough people to help cook and serve, our family and friends kept stepping up to the plate, and each day saw enough people to help. Each day brought more people to eat with us, and our numbers climbed more than 100% from Thursday morning to Sunday morning. Where on Thursday we seemed to be stumbling to get going, by Sunday it was smooth sailing to get things started. And each day we saw some of the same people come join us for breakfast, a testament to the cooking I am sure! And we even had an opportunity to be part of a radio broadcast live from the fairgrounds.

So we would like to thank the Macon Jaycees for this opportunity. We know that they cooked many dinner and supper meals over the weekend. And they are a source of uplifting support to our team.  We wish to thank each person who came out to eat with us, and who made such positive responses to our team and our efforts. And we wish to thank each and every person who came out to help us prepare food. Once again, without the support of our family and friends, we would be no where in our efforts.
